Printing in HDFS

HDFS offers both color / black & white printing for faculty, staff and students. Following the protocol below ensures that the printing needs of the overall department are met. This also helps us maintain and sustain this resource for everyone.

  1. The Ricoh printer is intended primarily for instructional use.
  2. The department can support research related printing on the Ricoh (NOT the color printer) within reason. Big print jobs (e.g. 50 pages or more) will need to be outsourced to the University of Texas Libraries or Document Solutions. Both of these options offer direct billing to UT accounts or self pay.
  3. The color printer in the mail room is primarily for admin use. Color ink cartridges are very expensive. The wider department can occasionally use the color printer for small printing jobs (5 pages or less).

If you are having issues connecting to the printers, please submit a CNS Help Request Form (https://cns.utexas.edu/faculty-staff/information-technology/help-desk). The CNS IT team will reach out to troubleshoot with you over chat or set up a meeting to set up your device. If you need to print something immediately, please email your documents to Erin Machell explaining the number of copies needed, single or double sided etc, and she'll take care of it!
