Academy of Distinguished Alumni pages
To create a new member page:
- Create the new category by going to Content→Categories→Add New Category. Title the category with the induction year–for example "Class of 2020". Under the "Parent" field choose "Academy of Distinguished Alumni". Save and close the category.
- Next create a new article for the member. The title will be the member's name. Under the "Category" field choose the "Class of xxxx" they are part of.
- In the main text area, add the job title in italics. After that, insert a "read more", then add the degree(s) in bold. If there are multiple degrees, use a "soft return" in between each. So instead of hitting return/enter, press and hold down shift, then hit return. After the degrees, press return and add the rest of the article content.
- To be consistent, the image should be vertically oriented. Add the image in the "Images and Links" tab, under "Full Article Image". Change the "Image Float" field to "Left" and be sure to add alt text–for example "photo of Bruce Wayne".
- Save the article. Check the website to see that everything appears correctly.
To create a new menu item:
- Open up the menu item for a previous year (ex. Class of 2020).Â
- Click on "Save as Copy"
- Change the title to the new year
- Publish the menu item
- Save and close the menu item
- Be sure to add the left menu module as well
- Go to Extensions → Modules → Alumni
- On the "Menu Assignment" tab, click the newly created menu item
To put the names in alphabetical order:
- Navigate to Articles and click on the "Search Tools" button. This will bring up sorting options. Use the "Select Category" and choose the category you want to alphabetize–for example "Class of 2020". This will bring up only the articles in that category.
- Look for the sorting option that says "ID descending", typically next to the option for how many entries to view per page at the top right. Click on this field and choose "Ordering ascending".
- Using the three vertical dots to the left of each article title, drag and drop the articles into the alpha order desired.
