Graduation

Apply to Graduate

Dell Med students graduating with a dual degree should ensure that they have an application to graduate on file with their dual degree program. Graduation applications must be submitted in the semester they intend to graduate. The graduation application for the spring semester is typically due by April.

MD/MPH graduates will need to submit their Intent to Graduate with the School of Public Health in December/January of their MS4 Year. Students will need to make sure all holds are cleared.

Commencement

Dell Medical School graduation is typically held on the Thursday before the University-Wide Graduation. When finalized, commencement ceremony dates and times will be listed on the Commencement Website.

Dual Degree students should not participate in dual degree graduations at the end of their third year. They should wait a year and walk in the ceremony in the same semester they will receive their MD degree.

Degree Certification

The MD degree and the dual degree must be conferred in the same semester. Even if a student finishes the dual degree work in the MS3 year, the degrees will be conferred at the same time (a year later).

Dual degree students must apply to graduate in the spring of their fourth year with assistance from their dual degree graduate coordinator.

Transcripts & Diplomas

Distinction programs will be represented on the final Dell Medical School transcript.

At the beginning of June, degrees for graduating students will be officially awarded and final transcripts (with degree listed) will be available for request. In the second week of June, diplomas will be mailed.

The School of Public Health is a separate entity; therefore, MD/MPH students will receive a separate diploma for that degree.
