Creating a Confluence Account

Account Creation:

Accounts are created for users through their first login to the University Wiki Service.  This process includes a new user clicking on the Log In button in the top right corner of the screen and using their EID credentials when prompted by the University's Enterprise Authentication screen.  

Users who successfully authenticate through Enterprise Authentication have a Confluence account created and are added to the confluence-users group.  All users must be a member of confluence-users to access the University Wiki Service, only Confluence Administrators can revoke and grant access to this group.

New users can experience an error if they do not have an email associated with their EID.  Users who experience this error are prompted to contact the UT Service Desk by calling 512-475-9400 or emailing help@wikis.utexas.edu.



Purpose:

The current user creation process was created to streamline the user creation process.  Without this process administrators would need to create each user manually or review and approve each request for a new user.  There is no function within Confluence to allow new users to be created by space administrators.

A user must create an account before they can be added to a wiki space.
