ADF Scanners
ADF (Automated Document Feeder) scanners are a powerful tool used for digitizing a broad selection of document types very quickly. For many types of documents in the Blanton’s records, ADF scanners will be most useful as they are better for bulk digitization of files (these can scan anywhere from 40 to 80 pages a minute, depending on your digitization workflow). We also utilize compatible document scanning software that make it easier to save processing settings, name, sort, and export documents as the tethered scanner feeds them directly to your computer.
Flatbed Scanner
In comparison to ADF scanners, flatbed scanners are designed to scan each page individually; though it’s more work to use these types of scanners, they are necessary for several types of documents. Flatbed scanners are ideal for scanning older, more fragile documents, as well as those that are strange sizes and cannot be fed through a typical ADF. Flatbed scanners can also scan at a very high resolution and can be used for scanning anything from photographic film to textual documents.
