2024 Election
Overview
Over the next couple of weeks, anyone on the team may nominate whoever they feel would make for a good lead in any of these positions. While I have given brief synopsis of each of the mechanical systems for the coming year (since many of them are having slight changes) you can nominate people for any position. When nominating someone, you need to do it in a public space IE saying in front of your team that you nominate x for y position. Then you need to go into the excel sheet, add their name, that you are nominating them and then someone else will need to go on the sheet and second them and put in the date that they were nominated. If you do not want to run for a position you are nominated for, you can remove yourself from the running by striking through your name. We don't just delete your name in case someone else wants to nominate you and then does it a second time because they don't see you on the page.
Positions
Aeroshell
Responsible for the composite aeroshell of the car, including the design of the shell, attachment mechanisms, simulations, and composites for the future vehicle. Next year it will be broken up into two teams, the aeroshell team and the composites team; with the composites team focused on developing and furthering our methods for mold prep, mold release, resin infusion, wet layup, etc while the aeroshell team will focus on the designs for the new vehicle.
Dynamics
Responsible for most of the car's moving parts, including all of the design and manufacturing. Next year it will be made up of three systems, Suspension, Unsprung Mass, and Steering. Next year will feature a new role for each subsystem where one member will be focused on manufacturing specifically and will continue to train themselves on the machines throughout the design cycle to further their machining knowledge and prepare for the following year of manufacturing.
Electro-Mechanical
Responsible for the interface and interaction of our car's mechanical and electrical parts. This team is split into three subteams: Enclosures, Cooling, and Wire-Harnessing, each of which will have no major changes coming with the next cycle. Next year will be designed focused so a lot more simulations and validation and a lot more cross-team work as wire harnessing will have a lossless work during the start of the year.
Fergo (Structures)
Our newest team is a combination of the ergonomics team and the frame team. They will be responsible for the same tasks that they were responsible for while they were their own systems so all the occupant space, driver comfort, harnessing as well as frame design and frame simulations. They both work very closely together, and utilize many of the same skillsets even though they have slightly different focuses.
