Basic IT Support Org (ITSO) On-boarding Steps
These steps must be followed for each IT Support Org to be onboarded. For ITSOs that wish to separate out subunits within the Configuration Manager console, some steps will need to be repeated for each such sub-unit. Please mention to the EPM team during the interview process if you wish to do this.
Prerequisites
- Verify your IT Support Org's (ITSO) prefix.
This is typically the same as the prefix generally used in naming your AUSTIN Active Directory objects. Any system you on-board into the campus Configuration Manager will require this prefix in its name. - Ensure the systems to be on-boarded are joined to the AUSTIN Active Directory and under the OU hierarchy assigned to your ITSO.
Your OU hierarchy needs to be located within Departments. Example: austin.utexas.edu/Departments/EPM - Create or Identify an AD group that will contain CM administrators.
- Identify all TSCs within your ITSO that will manage computers using Configuration Manager and place them into a dedicated AUSTIN Active Directory group.
This group will be granted the "Delegated Administrator" role for your ITSO's subscription, and it will be granted console access to the campus Configuration Manager.
Examples:
Prerequisite | Example ITSO Data |
---|---|
ITSO Prefix | [DeptCode] "VPFA", "ITSY", "EIS1" |
OU hierarchy | austin.utexas.edu/Departments/[DeptCode]Â "austin.utexas.edu/Departments/EIS1" |
Create or identify an ITSO AD Group for CM administration | [DeptCode]-CM-Admins "VPFA-CM-Admins", "ITSY-CM-Admins", "EIS1-CM-Admins" |
Add identified AD Privileged Users to the created or identified CM administration group | [DeptCode]-moter, [DeptCode]-dbroberts, [DeptCode]-nick "VPFA-nick", "ITSY-dbroberts", "EIS1-moter" |
