Posting Exemption Request

General information

A Posting Exemption Request to waive usual faculty job posting requirements may be granted approval by the Provost in exceptional circumstances when foregoing the formal recruitment process is warranted. The form for requesting a recruitment waiver may be found on the Provost’s Office website. A memo detailing the circumstances of the hire should included with the waiver form.

Depending on the basis of the request, additional documentation may be required - see the form for details.

Job postings/waivers and applicant pool statistics are not necessary for adjunct, visiting, and modified service faculty or for courtesy (0% time) appointments of current faculty appointed outside their principal academic department.

Process

1) Department AM submits form "Posting Exemption" at Faculty Affairs/APS ServiceNow: Complete Forms.

  • For guidance, see COE: ServiceNow Forms
  • In the section "Required Approval Routing," add the following:
    • Dean's Staff: Karla A Steffen (steffek). This field is required in COE
    • Dean or Dean Designate: Beth Maloch (malochb)

2) If approved by the Provost's Office, the final-approved form and Applicant Screening Questions form should be included in the PAR supplementary documentation packet.
