IT support (HITS team) & other requests (on staff Intranet)

You can request IT help through the staff Intranet page. On the right side under "Useful Links", if you keep scrolling down there is another section called "Requests". Click on "Request computer/IT assistance, PnC changes/edits, or data/reports". Selecting "Yes" to either of the prompts will automatically redirect you to our phone number. To place a ticket, you will need to select "No" for both questions. Then follow the prompts and select the most applicable category, for most requests this will be "HITS". Finally, fill out the title of the request and include as many details as possible in the description.
If it is urgent and is preventing your work, call the HITS line at 512-475-8331 (or 5-8331 from an internal phone) - Highly recommended when locked out of your Windows or PnC accounts.
Examples for a HITS ticket:
Computer equipment requests such as a new mouse or keyboard. Changing access/permissions in Point and Click
Requesting a USB printer be installed on a laptop in your office Laptop support issues such as a bad battery, accidental damage, etc.
Desktop support issues such as slow loading times, failure to boot, etc. Software installations for programs such as Adobe Acrobat Pro or Box Drive Bugs, glitches, and concerns with any provided technology.
Requests for office furniture or equipment such as standing desks need to be sent to our Material maintenance team. Please speak with your supervisor for proper procedure to requests such things.

Computer Security

You must not give your password to anyone else, nor allow anyone else to use your login.
Be sure to logout from (or "lock") your workstation whenever you are away from it. This is particularly important if you have used a conference room computer as they do NOT automatically "shutdown", "restart" or "log off". General guidelines are:
Lock your workstation (Windows Key +L) to step away for break or lunch with the intention of returning that same day.
Log out of your workstation (Start Menu) to leave the workstation for the day (either to go home or to move to another work area).
Do not leave your passwords any place it might be discovered, such as your desk drawer or wallet. If you have multiple passwords to keep track of, you may use an app designed for storing them safely such as stache.utexas.edu which is supported by the university.

Do not connect any USB drive/flash-drive to your computer.

PnC record security
PnC: Break the glass security for celebrity or sensitive charts. These are looked at carefully. Cannot look at your own record. Must go through record release.
Do not discuss people/things you see anywhere, not even at home even if you did not look at the chart to get the information. Must be directly involved with the care of the patient to view the chart.
<F8> will logout your user from PnC.
