Using the Breakrooms
All Sanger staff have access to breakrooms equipped with a sink, refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave. Each has some shared utensils and dishes. If you use a shared item, it is your responsibility to wash and return it. In Jester Hall, staff rotate turns cleaning towels and clean out the refrigerator annually before the holiday break. The following rules have been adopted in the FAC 338 breakroom and are strongly encouraged in JES:
Fridge Rules
Label your food. A Sharpie® is provided on the door.
Food meant for sharing should also be labeled or placed on the community sharing file cabinet/table.
Make sure food is sealed properly and stored in safe containers (e.g. plastic containers with lids, sealable plastic bags, bottles with caps, cups with closed lids).
Be conscientious about space. Please don’t use more than your fair share of space for your individual meals/snacks.
If your area is having an event that requires you to use a large amount of kitchen/fridge space, please email the suite in advance and ask everybody to remove any excess items they’ve been storing.
Please remove your expired items. Any items that are not properly sealed/covered and/or are rotten and moldy will be thrown away. Feel free to throw away items that are clearly no good.
If you spill something, please wipe it up right away.
Compost - In partnership with our Green Office initiative, a labeled compost receptacle is kept in the freezer of the JES break room. It is emptied by the Admin and cleaned weekly. Please be conscientious by cutting large pieces into smaller pieces to make room for more items and following the do's and don't's of acceptable items on the fridge.
Fridge clean-outs are scheduled at the following approximate times:
Mid-December
Mid-May
End of July
Professional staff teams are responsible for cleaning. Please do not assign student workers to do this.Â
