Announcements

  • Trial workday is this Saturday from 1-5ish.

    • We will still start workday at 9:30am. We will all meet at ETC and leave for Pickle in the morning. Drivers will return to ETC by 1 to pick up recruits.

    • Reminder that we will be discussing setting a track width, wheelbase, and CoG location in the morning (and work on architecture brainstorming)

    • If you have a car please bring it if you can to reduce the amount of back and forth

    • Wear your solar shirt if you can

  • Reminder to have material ready to set a track width, wheelbase, and CoG location by Saturday; architecture brainstorm ideas by Sunday

  • Daybreak disassembly date still undetermined (either Saturday or Sunday). What is the purpose of disassembling the car this early?

    • Decision: Postpone disassembly

  • Can we meet this week to have a case study of Electric’s assembly management, and how they use dynamics and frame reference sketches

    • Decision: Replace time saved from postponing disassembly with this meeting

Review Last Workday

Aeroshell

Body:

  • Determined trial workday invitees

  • Frame:

    • Started downloading 2024 Ansys (to start messing with composite simulation)

    • Practiced SolidWorks with Model Mania (2 parts and 1 sim)

    • Installed and configured VR3 weldments

    • Began collecting goals for composites testing

  • Ergo:

    • Worked on design changes for last year’s pedal box

    • Researched issue with pedal box (master cylinder)

    • Finished occupancy space requested by cesar (Needs quick revision)

    • Talked with controls about plan for steering wheel and dashboard

Dynamics

Electromechanical

  • SW24 installed

  • Finalized nextgen SOM layout

  • Redoing electrical topological map - started migrating from Draw.IO to kicad

  • Battery Module design almost finalized, module PCBs being designed

  • Battery box enclosure skeleton model done, extrude once internal dimensions finalized

Aeroshell Mold Manufacturing Plan

  • Used Daybreak dimensions to determine mold dimension

  • Split mold

    • Pros

      • easier for mold release

      • wouldn’t have to glue

      • main benefit is for demolding and sanding

    • Cons

      • Would potentially have to cut down foam stock — we are given standard sizes

      • We bought the foam that the foam people got from the supplier—even larger size

      • We might need extra prep to cut foam

      • Buy more stock than you need and roughly cut it?

      • We got our foam and it was a special order because we didn’t need it cut, sawyer didn’t do any work to prep it

      • Sawyer only picked up the foam from the pallet and then machined it

    • This is a mold prep solution

    • Attaching the molds together isn’t that difficult, mold is pretty stable

    • Composites is really rough and hands on, we can use dowels and straps to line things up, no force is pulling them apart

    • Timeline in which we receive molds must be considered. You will not get molds at the same time.

    • Do we wait and get a quote for both?

  • Top shell double or part of bottom shell

    • like from front view (tilted to the right) it looks like: c[] (3 parts) or c] (two parts and but imagine the base is wider)

    • top shell sitting in bottom shell?
