Nationbuilder

Nationbuilder is a content management and customer relationship management software that controls both the website and the database. It allows for you to manage a membership base as well as communicate with the base thereof.

Dashboard

• The dashboard has tabs where you can look at donations throughout the years. You can even search by a specific person and see their donation history over time. This is great for looking at trends over time.
• On the growth tab you can see how many people joined and when they joined.

People

• This section of the website contains information for all Texans for the Arts users. The information of these users is collected through the users’ social media platforms and when the members make a monetary contribution to the organization.
• The main categories of the people section are:
  • Control panel users: This section controls who have access to Nationbuilder. It allows the main user to give access or deny access to specific people.
  • Memberships: This section contains user groups that the admin can group their users into. The admin can also create additional groups depending on the organization's needs. There could be a group called “Member”, and this group would contain all of the TFA users who signed up for the membership.
  • Import: This section allows the admin to import data on new users to the NationBuilder database.
  • More: This section has “potential duplicates” which is used to eliminate potential duplicates. The “surveys” which allows the admin to create surveys. The “leaderboards” which allows the admin to create a list of members who have been donating the most.
  • Lists: This section allows the admin to group users into different types of lists. The admin can select the desired list when sending out emails later.
  • Tags: This section allows the users to create different filters. These filters can later be used to sort through the users based on their characteristics.
• The primary key for all accounts is the email

Website

• Nationbuilder CMS allows for you to manage the pages of your website easily within the Website tab. You’re able to design the pages of your website using templates provided with Nationbuilder and have control over the copy that belongs to those pages. Nationbuilder also supports integration with 3rd-party payment processing solutions such as Paypal, and Stripe. This can be setup to be used on the donation and membership sign-up pages.

Communication

• NationBuilder allows you to create email marketing campaigns and target specific segments of an audience through “email blasts”
  • Email blast can be sent to “lists” that can be narrowed down by financial criteria such as donation amount or length of membership
• NationBuilder also allows you to make posts directly to social media by connecting Twitter and Facebook accounts
• NationBuilder lets you see which people in the database have the most “social capital” by measuring social engagement

Finances

• Only payments that are made online with a credit card are recorded automatically on NationBuilder
• To record payments made through physical checks on NationBuilder, we recommend using Zapier to integrate QuickBooks with NationBuilder
  • If Zapier is not an option, we recommend uploading QuickBooks payments into NationBuilder via mapping
