Responsibility and Respect
Welcome to PLUS (for preceptors)
Welcome to PLUS!
We’re excited that you’re joining our select team of students who are passionate about learning, and take pride in assisting their peers. PLUS continues to expand every semester, and we rely on your enthusiasm, skill, and thoughtful feedback. In fact, many of the innovative features of PLUS, from the format of the weekly planning meetings to the topics and timing of training, are the result of suggestions from previous PLUS participants. Thank you for being involved!
The Sanger Learning Center (SLC) will provide you with "pre-study-group" training and ongoing assistance during the semester. Regular meetings between preceptors, senior preceptors, and supported faculty members are the core of PLUS. In these meetings, you will discuss upcoming content, create agendas, and practice group facilitation skills. Senior preceptors serve as your primary contact, and they are available to answer questions and address concerns (or direct you to the correct person). It is our hope that the people you meet in PLUS turn into genuine mentors and/or friends.
As the program coordinator, my goal is to help you succeed in your role this semester. Please email me at any time (leta.moser@austin.utexas.edu) to share information or ask questions.
Feel free to explore this wiki, and add comments to any page. We hope the resources collected here will prepare you for your study groups, give you ideas for activities, help you deal with difficult people/awkward situations, remind you what to do when you’re locked out of your assigned room, tell you how to become a senior preceptor, and much more. The wiki is a work in progress, so don't be surprised to see new pages appear in response to your requests and the experiences of this semester's participants.
Let’s have a great semester! I look forward to working with each of you.
