Responsibility and Respect
Social Media
Thank you to Molly Cook, Social Media Maven, for bringing PLUS into the digital age - and living to tell the tale.
PLUS Social Media
Social Media is used to promote positive studying skills as well as increase PLUS’s presence on campus at UT. It is used professionally to enhance the collaborative learning experience of anyone who interacts with PLUS via any medium.
Facebook and Twitter are connected. Anything posted to Facebook goes automatically to Twitter, and vice versa.
Both accounts are attached to the PLUS email address: plus@austin.utexas.edu
Facebook
Page name: PLUS (Peer-Led Undergraduate Studying)
Admin: PLUS Senior Preceptors
Password: see file Social Media Passwords in PLUS folder on U drive
First step: It is easiest if you make yourself an admin. Log in as PLUS Senior Preceptor and add your personal account as admin. Post to the page only as PLUS. If you post as yourself, it will not show up to the public.
Content: Post photos or news sent by other SPs and program coordinator. Use UT databases to look up relevant research articles. Post links from UT home page. Post encouraging notes about PLUS or studying or the Sanger Learning Center. Content is up to SP discretion with program coordinator's approval.
Twitter
Handle: @PLUSatUT
Password: see file Social Media Passwords in PLUS folder on U drive
Used primarily as a secondary post site from Facebook. Any posts under 160 characters can be made on Twitter. Use relevant UT hashtags whenever possible.
Time Frame
Post at least once a week to either but no more than three times a week to Facebook, and no more than once a day to Twitter. This is so that PLUS maintains a presence but does not “clog up” anyone’s feed causing an “unfollow.”
Samples of posts include
“Happy Monday, UT! Here at PLUS we are...”
“Here is a study tip from those of us at PLUS...”
“Anyone else excited it’s Friday? Insert TGIF meme here”
“Good luck on finals, everyone!”
*In case of inappropriate content, hacking etc., delete post as soon as possible, issue any necessary apologies either publicly or via personal/direct message, and don’t worry. It happens to everyone.*
Happy Networking!
